MPC hands out scholarships and donation
Movimiento Pro Cultura held a grant program in the City of Lawrence, MA, that included two students and an organization dedicated to help poor families in disgrace for the lost of a member. Students benefit from a grant of $ 500.00 were Eddie Guilfú, attending high school St. John's Preparatory School, and Angelica Espinal, who attend high school Bradford Christian Accademy, both students at the end of the intermediate level of the Lawrence Family Development Charter School. These students participated in a contest in which they had to write an essay about the importance of recognizing the values of their own culture, and the importance of being able to communicate in both English and Spanish language. His works were chosen as the two best approach and writing. Both scholarships were awarded for the development of the graduation ceremony held on June 11 this year. In this ceremony, the school authorities announced and surrendered certificates and graduate scholarships to students graduating from this level.
Moreover, the MPC also delivered a donation in the amount of $ 300.00 to the Lawrence community organizing "Blanco Arriba Presente" who have founded a board of financial aid to families who are going through a tragic situation and requiring financial support to meet expenses related to the burial of their dead. Messrs. Ricardo Fabian, Miguel Villa, Julian and Miguel Almanzar Paulino received the donation for their organization. The ceremony for the donation was made on 30 June this year.
The delivery of the sums donated by the MPC students were benefited by its President, Mrs. Mary Figuereo. The donation to the organization "Blanco Arriba Presente" was given by the MPC board members, Mr. Ruben Perez and Mrs. Gladys Mencia, who also serves as Financial Advisor community cultural group. Donated funds come from the contribution of the public who attended last May 5 at cultural show "Roots III" and the sponsors.
